How long has it had the red lump for?
It's either a cyst or tumour, most likely a tumour. There is no cure for cysts or tumours in fish.

The funny growth on the mouth is becoming quite common on neon tetras and we believe it is a virus. The fish can live with it for a while but when they start having trouble eating, we recommend euthanising them.

I just noticed it today. I don't think the spot itself is red, but rather a protrusion from the red colored portion of his body. That is too bad. I don't think that wide be contagious to the other fish then, right. It seems to be swimming and eating fine; however, it's breathing does appear slightly labored. Shall I let him alone until it affects his eating or swimming? And when that time comes, how do I do that humanely?
