looks like a beer glass, with aquarium gravel in it, & a cover on it... this comes from a breeder, is that a breeding surface, or is my imagination not good enough???

If the cover is full I would say a spawning surface. Might also be a culture of live food.

Spawning substrate are not habitually used with Altums. and a smooth flat surface is enough for them.

I see the piece of clay pot, so I figured that was spawning surface...but???

if it had a an air stone, maybe a scud pot???

A plastic cup filled with gravel to serve as a spawning site for the fish. The gravel holds the cup underwater so it doesn't float around.

That’s what I assumed
