What Is This?

The nitrate reading doesn't make sense. Could it be 40 ppm?

You need to lower the ammonia as well. That and the nitrite should read 0.

Do a large water change and take another reading after an hour or so.

Add bogwood to lower your pH.

Okay will do :)
There are a few pieces of bogwood in there already, but i do have a piece which i can put in soon as it has been in soak for over a month now.
Again it is due a water change, which i will do tomorrow.
At the moment the filtration is in the filter top, but i am changing to an external filter, i have these on other tanks, and i definetely prefer these, so i do need to get this setup.

You really shouldn't leave your water change until tomorrow if you have any ammonia or nitrite; discus are very sensitive fish; you need to change some now.

I would if i could, but i haven't got any water to change with, unless i add a treatment to it

I don't understand what you mean. You don't have tap water to which you add dechlorinator when you do a water change?

if you don't, you can always use boiled water allowed to cool; pour in from one bucket to another a few times to re-oxyenate it, as boiling drives off oxygen as well as chlorine.

lol; snap; we're all thinking alike today ;)

Sorry yes i do have a dechlorinator, but i usually keep the water in cannisters for few days before putting the water in to the tank.

There's absolutely no need to do that if you use a dechlorinator :good:

You're welcome.

Haha...shame i haven't got a tap upstairs

Just change the *£$@% water!
