My lemon peel angel has always has this but it doesnt seem to affect any other fish. Can anyone tell me what it is? Here are 4 pics that give various angles at it.

I doubt it is something like that. It looks better some day's and looks worse others. I couldnt get anything up close but I can try to get better detail.

If you look real close it looks as if the scales are messed up in that spot. If you look really close you see webbed veins (capillaries) in the spot.

mmm i dunno then.Ive got a fish that gets a red lump on its side every so often and when i push its scale down a little stone looking thing comes out, maybe its something like that, sorry if i cant help :D

No problem. Any idea is better than none. I'm not too worried about it because it is not happening to any other fish. I'm just worried about this fish itself.

I'm just hoping is something that can be cleared up. if not, no biggie as long as its not harming the fish.

It might be a scar that happened during its days on the reef :dunno:

Sounds and looks like septicemia, but the behavior would be much different if that was the case--not eating, hiding most of the time. Monitor to see if the fish is getting stuck in the rocks--could be scratches. While it's unlikely that it would be just this fish, I'd also watch the tank at night, lights off, as well, to insure that it wasn't the result of a nocturnal hunter or pest. I'd probably move the fish to a hospital tank, JIC, and to allow it to heal fully.

Well its a fish only tank with no live rock. The fish is happy and eats a lot.

What's funny is when I do my water changes, the color of the area changes. It gets a couple shades lighter. I keep on my water quality very heavily and my filtration and skimming more than doubles what is needed for my aquarium.

The False Lemon Peel (heralds angelfish) is notably a very difficult fish to feed in captivity. So I am positive the water quality is good.

I guess I could quarantine him for awhile to see how it goes. I would just hate to interrupt the community chemistry for nothing.
