From memory it was like a 5% Formalin solution used at 3%. Just enough to give the little suckers a fright. 30 seconds was like the max time before it would burn the fishes gills.

Bristles don't reach out and snatch micro-organisms from the water....I've read this thread. This could be bristles growing if Jamie's pleco is aged around 6 months.
Do you think bristles grow white ?
Try removing it. Either hot needle or tweezers.I know this is gross, but have you attempted to remove it?
Like a gnarly zit.Try removing it. Either hot needle or tweezers.
I'm not saying that these "things" are bristles. I was answering to Colin.Bristles don't reach out and snatch micro-organisms from the water....
Wow, they're all over him... Poor baby.Hi guys, people were asking for more pictures so I have got some. I’ve only seen the one on his left gill open up but as you can see there is now one on each gill, and potentially two more towards his tail.
Whilst I appreciate suggestions about manually removing it, I really don’t think I could manage to do something so gentle and intricate, also, I haven’t actually seen it “open up” for the last 24 hours or so...
New pictures attached...
Excellent ! Thanks !Fuplie -
A year or two ago, a member of the forum made a post about guppies. But her phone's autocorrect did not recognise the word "guppy" and substituted the word "fuplie" in its place. The member did not notice the substitution and the word "fuplie" appeared in the post.
Since then the word fuplie has been used as an alternative to a swear word, or to express frustration.
It's interesting tho, isn't it
Stay tuned for the next amazing chapter in "What the fuplie is this on my fish?"
I don't think it's a disease, I think it's a creature@Colin_T, could this be Columnaris?
