the profile we have here says that they rarely grow past 20" in captivity and that an 80 gallon would be just fine. well the standard size 75 gallon has a width of only 18". so im gona assume that that's not gona be big enough. but what about getting a juvenile and letting it grow up in a 75 gallon? how long would it take to out grow it? what kind of a growth pattern does it have, i.e. does it grow real fast up until a certain length and then slow to a different rate of growth or what? it seems like a good while back i discussed this once before but i cant remember, if im being repetitive please forgive me :fun:

i should mention: i cant get an 80 gallon... iv never seen one sold before. just so i dont look crazy and make ppl think "well if he can get a 75 gallon why doesnt he just get one a little bigger????". the next size up that has more width to it is huge and way to expensive right now... and i need something that i can take with me as i go off away to college every year. in other words it needs to be able to be light enough to be set up in an apartment safely (weight issues). and with that said, despite the fact that i have multi tank syndrome and would love to fill my basement with fishies that doesnt seem to be in the cards for me at this moment so im going to have to settle for a set up that will keep me fairly satisfied till im done with my degree in a few years. so here i am researching black ghost knifes. :p

They grow pretty quick up to about 5-7 inches I hear, and then start slowing down as they grow.

Mine is 6-7 inches and he's still growing pretty well...I'd have to guess he's growing and inch a month at tops....if that.

thanks. ya it seems like thats what some one told me once before. i should have remembered that. i think thats a little to fast for me right now. idk. how do you like yours?
