I want to put a small tank on one of my end tables-the size is 22" wide and 21" deep. I know that a regular 10 will fit, or a 15 hex (but those are so tall without much swimming room). I saw that there is an eclipse 12 that will fit but I'm not sure I want to mess with the easy-scratch of acrylic. Any glass tanks bigger than a 10, but wider than a 15 hex, that would fit on my table? If I have to I'll get the 10 but I'd like something a bit bigger.

This table, what kind of weight is it going to securely hold - that is a very important consideration, filled tanks are VERY heavy.

I think it would be sturdy enough for up to 15 gallons anyway. It is a regular end table, which is made like an enclosed cube where one side is doors and the others are solid. The top is about 3/4" thick and it sits directly on the vertical walls which are about 1/2" thick, plus there are supports at the corner where the top meets the walls which are about 3/4" square. I am 109 lbs and can stand on the table with it bending at all. How much would a tank full of water weigh? Is it about 8 lbs per gallon plus weight of tank and substrate and extras?

Also if I get a 10, the top PLUS the sides would hold the weight since it would go all the way across (the top overhangs the sides by an inch or so). My husband is usually pretty careful about this kind of thing and he didn't say not to do it. lol.

Rounding off, it's about 150 lbs for 15 gallons, then depending on how much gravel, lets say 15 lbs, so 165. If you have some carpentry skills, try reinforcing it ;)
