What Is The Best Way To Clean New Sand?

wen i done mine i got a 15liter bucket and filled 2/3 with sand, stuck the garden hose in there and constantly swirled it around with my hand letting the excess water and dirt just over flow out of the bucket. Worked well for me and water was crystal after the filter was on for about 4 hours.

I do it similarly. I fill the container with water, swirl like mad, but then I wait like 4 minutes for the heavy grains to settle then I carefully dump the cloudy water. I repeat a few times till the water's clear.

I used to just let the water overflow, but you end up losing a lot of good sand that way.
