Oldman Of course they are / may be more of a vegetarian in nature
may be in nature they need to feed on Vegetation / Algae to survive due to the lack of live foods

when kept in captivity fed with a normal flake food and fed on a Regular diet of live foods A towerii/ goodeids have very little or no interest in eating Algae/ Vegetation, however they can live with or with out vegetable matter as I have mentioned earlier live foods are more beneficial then feeding any vegetable matter,

We feed our towerii's 4 days a week on flake and two days on live food (mix of BS, Daphnia, Cyclops etc), and they are thriving. I've had three drops of fry in the last few weeks in our display tank. If I pull any fry into smaller fry raising tanks, I feed them exclusively Interpet Liquifry 3 (micro granules type food), not sure if something similar is available in the US. Along with the occasional feeding of daphnia and cyclops, (we find frozen works fine) we are getting great results with a high survival rate of fry.

I have had 3 batches of fry so far and they have all been fed on tetra min baby food which is a fine powder and when they are about 3-4 weeks old I just give them crushed flake and they have done well.

Same here really. They all get tetraMin baby and have all thrived on it. I've been praised several times by my lfs for such nice healthy looking fry so I'll carry on as I am :)

I rescued a female guppy from a friend.
Of course she was pregnant.
She's in a community tank, gave birth to 20 fry & the fry have been getting a mix of flake crushed, frozen cyclops, what they've scavenged from the algae wafers I feed to my Oto's & corys.
They're 6 weeks old now & a good size, they're off to the Lfs in a week or so
