Yesterday I purchased a Eheim Classic 2213 and when I was finished setting it up (that was an epic story on it's own) I had a green plastic elbow left over. This elbow is open on one side and I thought is was to go around the hose so the hose doesn't kink but when I tried putting it on the hose pretty much flattened itself.

The part number is 4014300. I check the Eheim web site but no explanation. None of the diagrams show the part being used.

Thanks.

i have a 2213, not sure what part no it is but i use my little green open-sided elbow thing to do what you said - to prevent kinks in the outlet pipe. it's a tight squeeze

I just looked it up, looks like its ment to be used as you said, to allow bends without kinks. As you've set up without needing it, i wouldnt worry.

Thanks for the replies. I kinda thought that's what would be replied but I just wanted to make sure.

I honestly can't see why that part is needed as the tubing is so stiff it would be difficult to get a kink in it unless you really really tried. In fact I think using the part would restrict the flow more than a kink.

For such a prestigious company like EHEIM I'm astounded that a) their documentation is so vague and b) the connectors for the intake and especially the spray bars are so pathetic. It might cost them $2 more to do it right. Amazing.

Cheers.

I just made my life easier and bought installation sets 1&2, means the piping doesnt bend atall :)
