What is on my halfmoon betta’s head?

He’s a halfmoon betta, in a 10 gal tank - it is cleaned once a week and he does not have any roommates. Today I’ve noticed that something is sticking out/up on his head. Is this another lifted scale? What can I do for him?

It's not his nostril. CaptainBarnicles is correct, it looks like a lifted scale. His nostrils are below the scale.
