I had the exact same fish before but cant remember the scientific name, I think its Pseudotropheus saulosi but its an African cichlid from lake malawi.

thanks alot for that, i apreciate it.. any recconmendations of fish that will go well with it in a tank ?...

:good:

I think it may be a young Male Melanochromis Johanni which start off that orange colour but end up Electric Blue! i could be wrong but our Males looked like that b4 they turned!! :good:

Other similar sized african cichlids only, this fish isnt a community fish. Whats it in with at the moment and tank size?

I think you may be right!

There is always gonna be someone who knows better just my opinion from my experience it looks very much like a johanni!!

may as well add my 2 cents - so i guess Pseudotropheus Lombardoi (know nothing about mbuna btw)

could it be a crossbreed of possibly a rusty and peacock? sorry im not sure to be honest just making an observation as i dont believe that the stripes change from childhood to adulthood although i could be wrong but thats my argument for knock out it being a melano.

but yeah i would put my money on a cross breed possibly?

It's almost certainly a female or juvenile P.Saulosi :good:

your fish is a B.B ornatus cichlid Pseudotropheus crabro also known as the chameleon cichlid originating from lake Malawi in Africa it reaches about 5 inches in length is semi aggressive and requires a tank at least 30 us gallons because of its quick bursts of speed. As to male or female I'm not sure but it is not a Johanni Cichlid sorry.

Trust me - that is not a P.Crabro
