ooops, i must have done something wrong, lets try again:

Can any body tell me what is the name of this fish?

It looks more like a cardinal tetra to me but the pic isn't brilliant on my fone so may be wrong loli

Looks more like an immature Bristle nose to me or a female bristle nose. I have them literally by the hundreds (they a good breeders) they are peaceful in the tank only males will really have the odd bit of argie bargie over the most desired hollows, females can get narkie at each other at times as well but with enough hiding places they are usually well behaved. They eat a lot of vegetable matter and will demolish certian live plants in the tank, they also need some bog wood to rasp away at and they are not total vegetarians they enjoy some meaty types of food such as shrimp pellets (made from shrimp not necessarily made for shrimp to eat), and catfish wafers, they will also go for defrosted bloodworms.

Yup, I think Baccus is right!

Ha I just noticed you also have a shrimp in the tank, is it a male cherry shrimp or another type?

Also as a young bristle nose it will be out and about a lot on the constant search for food, as they get older and bigger they tend to prefer only coming out at night or if you have added a treat to the tank they really like eating.

I think you meant to address this to the OP, Memoi, as I don't have a bristlenose or any shrimp, lol! (Although I tried RCS once, and that did not go so well :( )

I just realised this...oops.

Hello Everybody,

Thanks for all the good and bad guesses it was really great to read you all.

I would like to reassure some and confirme that the blue and red fish at the back is definitely a cardinal and all teh 6 of them are swiming happily together. (i ate being mean to my fish).

Yeap, Baccus is totally right (thank you). the girl in the shop used a weird complicated name for it that i couldn't remember.

So really, after googling bristle nose i found that Ancistrus was the name she used but the simpler version will suit me much better.

The shrimp is actually an amano shrimp. i call it Shrimpy, cos he is so tiny and so cute with his dots. :p

I have 2 of those bristle nose in my tank so i hope they won't start fighting or growing up too fast( i keep saying to my husband that i need a bigger tank but he is prentending to be death, ill keep working at it  )

You mentioned that they like wood, could you give me a bit more of advice on the matter, i tried live plants when i started but it was a catastrophy.

:thanks:
