What Is A Small Shoaling Fish?

While looking for a pic of dwarf livebearers, I came across this site with a huge list of small fish. He's talking for nano type tanks, but they may still siut your needs.

White Clouds! I love em! they'll tolerate tropical temps too and are really hardy and have quite alot of character for a 'poor man's fish' especially when they display among males

Aplocheilichthys normani - Saw these yesterday labelled as Lampeyes, Maidenhead Aquatics.

They are lovely, above the eye is so blue! Only grow to 3cm too!

Anyone seen or got these?

x

I did have some yes, they are really pretty sweet looking little fish ^_^

Heterandria formosa - dwarf livebearers.
Yep to Heterandria Formosa - they're VERY small and produce very little bio-load. Only downside is they may be difficult to find locally and may need to be ordered online. They also need a heavily planted tank, but it does NOT need to be heated. They can be kept in a nano-tank. I plan to get some once my other tanks are all settled in.

Pygmy Cories - are cute, but they need live plants and a well-established tank!

harlequin rasboras :)
No way. Rasboras will grow to be 2" and need to be in groups of 6.

For less than 1 inch go for neon tetras...they have great color and personality. :good:
Neons grow bigger. The ones sold in the fish stores are not full-grown. In fact, most fish of any variety in stores are not full-grown (and that can be deceiving when fish shopping). That's why it's important to read up (on *many* fish sites) before deciding on a fish that will be appropriate. Most employees will tell you the full-size if you ask. Also, bring a book with you when shopping.

In addition to Neons growing to 2", they also need a well-established tank.
