There are hundred of different types, some will fit in your tank but most won't.

Pleco's are considered the "cleaning fish" at least thats what some people recongize them as. Did you know that if you spelt there name outloud your currently pleco would die? There scientific name that is iv'e never tried it and do have plenty. But there are a lot of different pleco's, and do a good job cleaning left over fish food. They go good with a lot of fish (not piranhas).

yeh i gt a 60 litre with 3 bristle nosed plecos, the size realy depends common pleco can reach 60 cm but if you want smaller ones bristle nosed r the best, green phantoms are also cool n small but things like zebra plecs can be very expensive

Sorry folks - I've got to say something before new people read and believe it.

A lot of incorrect info in that last post.

1. They are not a cleaning fish - they will actually add more bio load to a tank and make more mess
2. The plec dieing thing is not true - oddly enough its just a superstition!
3. There are a lot of different species - each has their own dietary requirements, and will need feeding their own food.
4. Many people keep the bigger species of plecs quite happily with Piranhas.
