What if im unable to have a quarantine tank?

I have a 20 high but my space doesnt allow for a smaller quarantine tank (neither does my budget) so im wondering what to do?

If the 20H is new and has no fish yet, it is in effect a QT tank (for your first group of fish).

Try to buy healthy fish and put them in the main tank.

Do not buy anything from a tank if the fish show any of the following things:
if there are any fish rubbing on objects or flicking about,
if any fish have cream, white or grey patches on their body or fins,
if any fish have clamped fins or tail,
if any fish have small white dots on their body or fins,
if any fish have fluffy white growths on their body or fins,
if any fish have unusual looking lumps or bumps on their body or fins,
if there are any dead fish in the tank,
if any fish are sitting on the bottom or just under the surface breathing heavily,
These are all symptoms of sick fish.

Don't buy fish if they have just been delivered to the shop in the last couple of days. Find out when the shop gets new fish in and buy them a day or two before they get new fish in.

Don't buy fish if they have just done a water change on their tanks. Try to find out when they do water changes and buy fish 3 or more days later or the day before they do the water change. This reduces the stress on the fish.

We never had quarantine tanks in the past, but buying fish online was something the average person did not do... if the internet even existed back then.

We bought from good local shops and never had a problem. The one shop would quarantine the fish he received in his basement tanks before transferring them upstairs for sale.

I really want peacock gobies/gudgeons but I can only find them online. I want to get them from liveaquaria.com is that ok?

I defer to the folks who have actively been in the hobby.
I don't recall seeing some of the fish on my list at the local shop, but I'm going to ask him if he can get any in. I'll pay more, but I'd be more comfortable with it.

I noticed I cant request gudgeon for females... Thats a problem because the males are aggressive. So I need at least 1 male and 2 females

Peacock gudgeons aren't aggressive. Having more males means more babies because the males look after the eggs and fry.

I have never had them fight.
