hi,
My new female fighter fish has been acting very lifeless and just sit on the bottom and wasn't moving much. so some1 suggested that I put her in a breeder trap. Which I did this morning. I posted a picture of her on here earlier and some1 said it could be swimbladder or internal parasites. this is the post: http://www.fishforums.net/content/Tropical...ten-looks-Ill-/

Well I just checked her again a min ago and she has died:(
Here are some pics of her: any idea what caused it? if it was a disease what shall I do as there were other fish in her tank?

her gill is red so maybe a parasite. she may have died from stress. you shouldn't have put her in the trap.

Some1 on here told me to put her in the trap this morning to stop her from getting bitten.

Do I have to do anythink to the water to stop my other fish getting ill?

I think the trap was good advice as Bettas breathe air from the surface and when they are poorly they prefer shallower waters to make it easier for them to get to the top. I would do a large water change but not sure whether to treat the tank or not.

dont say such rubbish, the trap was a good idea if she was getting nipped and having problems swimming

Ok thanks im glad i didnt kill her by putting her in the trap. I will do a water change in a min.

anyone know if i should treat the tank if it was parasite or bacterial?

ok the "red gills" i dont beleive are red, few of my bettas had this colouring by their gills and have done ever since i got them

tbh its hard to suggest a course of action without knowing what she died of

imo id do a 50%water change and leave it as that for now

ok ill do a water change. I dont think her gills were red due to illness coz most of my females have this and they are fine.

Thanks alot :)

look at the fella in my avatar, can u see the white marks by his gills?

my females had red markings in the exact same place as his white markings

i dont believe ur betta had "inflamed gills" not from the pictures any ways

I dont think she had inflamed gills either because 2 of my other females have exactly the smae marks. ill do the water change and see how the other fish are.. thanks

np and good luck, if any of ur females change in their behaviour plz post up a list of symptoms and we'll do our best to point u in the direction of the best meds :)
