The top/back of my roll top desk will be the perfect eye catching spot for my new 4 footer, and is solid oak and sturdy enough to hold it, ( do you think so too) and I can service it standing on the desk.

But I remember reading somewhere about putting something underneath the tank itself, but I can't remember why or what it was? Corrigated poster board comes to mind, but not sure...

polystyrene is the bet for going underneath tanks; there is also a specially made foam for the job but it is expensive in comparrison.

the reasnons for using ti are
1: evenly distributes weight, so there is no particular stress point that could lead to breakage

2: noise and vibration buffer.

your same question has also been answered in the do-it-yourself forum.

Cork board works Ok IME, I'm going to use the insulationy stuff you put under laminate flooring, layered up. Theres not much point spending £5 on a packet of cork board when we have loads of insulation left.

Thanks, I had done a google search and replied from there and didn't remember where it was in the forum.
