allright, so a lot has happened.
My stocking has now turned to... oh....

2x Kribs.
1x Elephant nose (rescue mission)
1x albino senegal bichir
3x peacock eel
1x African butterfly
1x Queen Arabesque pleco
1x Clown pleco
1x Vampire shrimp

Seems a lot for a 38, right? But I have heavily planted, and have filtration of an aquaclear 50 and a whisper 30. That's pretty good for a tropical if you ask me.

So here's what's happening. The kribs. have been pecking and pestering the poor peacock eels constantly. It's mostly just the male. And I'd much rather keep the eels. So the krib. pair must go.
Also, I think the elephant nose will be going to a better LFS in a 55. I know they can take care of him. And he's 7-8 inches, while they have 8 or so that are but 3 and 4 inches. He'd be king.

So here's the plan.
-2x kribs
-1x Elephant nose.

In my figures, that's -7 inches, -4 inches, -3 inches right now, if you go by inch rules. I don't really. but for those who like to think on it, there it is
Then, I want to add one baby whale. They get to 4 inches. It's more preferable than the elephant nose, as it can manuver around the plants better and probably feel safer in hiding.

Then, here's my debate.

2x roseline sharks.
I honestly cant support a shoal of 5 in such a tank. that's unrealistic. But two would probably be just fine in the tons of plants. And I've heard so many stories of just 2 having the time of their lives. And when people post pictures of theirs on here, they just have but one or two in the tank, and the colors are still vibrant, the fish is still healthy, and it looks good. And then, if someone did get them, they're likely to only get 1 as a "centerpiece" fish, cause they're $27. Not many people are going to pay around 180 for a shoal of 6. I figure with the good filtration and good setup, that it would work great!... But... I know they perfer a shoal... and I wouldn't be giving them the best possible home....

so, then, What I come up with is....

1x Dwarf girrafe cat.
these guys are suggested for my kind of tank actually, and would be perferctly suited in my opinion, although with such a boisterous body, I figure i'd have to rescape to give him room to do his thing. I already tried a featherfin syno before, and the candy stripe pleco and elephant nose always kicked him out of his hiding spots, so I had to trade him in. but I figure a dwarf giraffe would be better suited in there, especially with the Elephant nose gone. Kinda be my "large" fish.

so, in conclusion, the plan could be.

-2x kribs.
-1x elephant nose

and then
+1x Baby whale
+1x Dwarf Giraffe Cat.

or

+1x baby whale
+2x roseline shark. (red line torpedo barb/Denison's barb?)

Please give your opinions, as well as perhaps alternate options that you think I might be able to do!
Thanks in advance. And lets keep it to a dull roar this time.

Adding a baby whale would be a HUGE mistake. They are carnivourus catfish that act more like pirahna than anything elce. They need specialist set ups. Dwarf giraffe catfish are fantastic, but rare and would grow too big for the tank. Adding 6 red line barbs would be a good more, as would adding more Butterfly fish as they are shoaling fish. Hope this helps.

wrong baby whale buddy
The baby whale is the same subtype as the elephant nose if I'm not mistaken.
They just grow much smaller.

i think that you should enjoy the fish you have, quit gambling on expensive oddballs that you already suspect won't be compatible, and save up money for a bigger tank. you'd be halfway there to an upgrade if you didn't keep spending it on fish that you end up having to rehome because you didn't want to listen to the bad news about compatibility.

your tank is overcrowded. even ignoring the issue of biomass altogether, you have far too many large bottom-dwellers (most of whom as solitary and territorial) crammed into a 3 foot square space. you do realize that at every point, you are having to make exceptional effort just to scrape by. you are one poorly quarantined fish away from a horribly expensive disaster.

stop buying more fish!! give the ones that you have a living arrangement that is better than marginal.

All righty pica, here's the deal
A: I have the money for a bigger tank. My parents won't allow that though. they're unhappy with the tank I have now.

B: The kribs, which I did not expect, and beating the heck out of my peacock eels no matter how I arrange the tank.

C: Biomass or not, I think filtration provides for that, showing that the elephant nose, who is extreemly sensitive, is doing good so far. there is arrangement for the fish, but since kirbs are all over the tank, they bug whatever they go by except the elephant nose, who

D: feels uncomfortable probably due to his size. I can't make adequate hiding for him out of rock or slate, but I COULD do that for something small like a baby whale. there's no great hiding spot for him, a 7 inch guy who can't rest on the bottom, but there is for a 4 inch.

E: I have begun quarntieens, thank you very much. you seem to pounce on me too much. I'm doing well for someone who got into the bigger tank 2-3 month ago, and into fishing 4 months ago. most people here still don't even bother with that still. The ABF was in the 10 for about a month before being introduced, as were the brochis, but the brochis were too active for most the peaceful fish, so they went back to the 10.

You don't get perhaps that the change up is that I'd be trading in the elephant nose and the kribs before I do this?

I'd love a bigger tank. Yes. I want a breeder 50. sure. that'd be lovely. It's not happening despite that there is space and money for it.

And I don;t know where you buy from, but baby whale's have an expense of around $10-15 USD, and then Roselines are 27 a piece, and Dwarf giraffes are ?able. But still, I have the money, but the parents are the problem here.

edit: sorry if I was not so clear on the situation in the first place, I hope now that I am :D
