i have a rio 180 and there are now 9 cardinal tetras, one male betta, 2 BN plecs and pinky the apple snail. i really want to introduce some colourful fish into the tank but i know that bettas are agressive, also i need to avoid nippers for the bettas sake. the tank is planted and uses a Co2 system it also has two big pieces of bogwood in it if this makes any difference? any suggestions?

my boyfriend has also just bought a trigon 350 (100 us gallons) which will be a mainly pleco tank but we also want some colourful fish that will be ok with the plecos any help would be great.

i should probably mention that our pH is 7.4 and the temp in the smaller tank is 25 but can go a little higher. that rainbow fish is really nice and i was looking at them just before i posted hehe. would these conditions be ok i saw a profile and it appears not ?

25f or 25c?
That little letter can make a big difference

They'll be fine in that water. Sometimes the average ph of where they're found in the wild is mistaken for what they handle. Most of our fish our captive bred anyway. My tap water is about 8 whereever I move in this city and I've never met a fish that can't handle it - the only problems it can present is on the hatching of eggs of some species.

So I'm guessing its 25c.......I've never heard of a fish that could live in 25f before...

25F is about -4C, good luck lil fishies

yes, our tank is 25C :)

we're not interested in breeding them, so will deffinately look into them some more, thanks everyone

Get another 9 or 11 cardinals deffinately!

Also maybe consider something like red coral platys or sunset orange platys, you can even get "pinnaple blue" platys which are very colourful.

Other nicely coloured fish that would work are rainbow fish, rams (although check other peoples opinions) and various other tetra are very colourful, not just neons/cardinals!

I just got 7 dwarf neon rainbows today - they are absolutely gorgeous. Max size about 2.5 inches, if you're looking for a slightly smaller but very colourful rainbow.

thanks for your help every one i will look into all of them and let you know what i deside on.
