Hi folks

I have a 260 litre tank and am looking to make it as community friendly as possible.

I currently have a mixture of cardinals, guppies and catfish but am keen to add at least one more breed.

Does anyone have any advice what else to add?

I like the way the guppies tend to stay near the surface, the cardinals kind of in the middle and the catfish at the bottom - so something which would complement these guys.

I'm tempted by a clown loach or a siamese fighter but have heard these may nip the fancy guppies?

Cheers

Ben

Clown loaches will grow to big, take look at gourami's, blue rams etc. They are nice fish and would complement the tank in my opinion.

i agree clown loachs grow to big but most other loachs are ok like zebra, yoyo, dojo as long as your water is not to warm, kulie loach
or like said above gouramis are quite good maybe rummynose as long as your tank is mature but very much a community fish but are delicate

Hold On Guys,
IMO Before We Give Him Advice He Needs To Answer Some Questions
1. did You Cycle?
2. what kind of cats?
3. how long has your tank been running?

Not really, you don't need to badger everyone...

It depends on what size of fish you're after, but I'd go with Gouramis. Probably some Honey Gourami as they're one of the most peaceful and pretty fish in my tank. All personal preference though, so just have a look around and try narrow it down some first :good:

If you want something like a bottom dweller then yeah
kuhli loach - minimum of 3 but best to get 5-8 in that tank size so you they will feel secure and you will see them more often.
corridoras catfish
horse faced loach - if you want something different.
Dora Catfish - Mainly stays at bottom but mine hides a lot.
Pictus catfish - These get big and may get abit aggressive, I had them and they were peaceful except with each other, maybe both males.
Loaches - yoyo, tiger, striped, blue botia, checkered and many more suitable types that are peaceful.
Bumblebee goby's - Nice small fish that are peaceful but may fight with own species and also maybe hard to feed. Had mine for 4 months, 3 of them in a 100l and they ate well.

Shrimps is another idea like
Cherry shrimp
Fan shrimp - they get big but also really nice & entertaining, I have had them before.
Tropical Prawn - Yes prawn, I never new that they had them in tanks for fish keeping, nice looking and get big.

I'm sure 260l is big enough for the smaller eels like the zigzag. Only problem is feeding them and cuts from sharp objects in the tank which could lead to infection. When I say feeding is because some take a long time to eat but when I just got mine 2 they was eating anything including frozen bloodworm but when I put in some live earthworm they snatched them up easily. They prefer the live foods but people can get them to accept frozen.

Hope this helps.
