Fish Addict
i wouldnt mix tropheus ,which come from lake tanganyika, with the rest which come from lake malawi. this is for several reasons, firstly they like water more alkaline and harder, secondly they are fairly strict vegetarians so most cichlid pellets have too much protein and will cause them to get bloat and die. also they need a colony of at least 15 fish in a single species tank to get them to breed otherwise you will get too much aggression and they will kill each other. check out tropheus heads or thropheus fanatics for more info. other than that sounds ok but the pseudotropheus species may cross breed. good luck
malawi and tanganyika are basically the same water parameters!
there has also been several mbuna listed in his list who will also be very strict vegetarians the same as tropheus.
basically the same yes but if your wanting to get tropheus to breed i wouldnt have them in with mbunas which was my main concern. i keep my tropheus in harder more alkaline water than mbunas. thats just my opinion.
also it was tropheops not tropheus listed so i misread what sort of fish anyway, oops
yeah thanks alot mate, i already am breeding tropheus species in seperate tanks,
cheers damo
