Ideally Rainbow sharks do need a 4ft plus tank so id probably give one a rain check maybe until you get a bigger tank in the future.

You could get some cool alternatives for a cool looking centre piece fish/es. Something like a Bolivan ram or some Apistogrammas etc (depending what your water hardness is) you would have way more options on tank mates that way too
