Hi all,

I have a 200 litre tank which I was planning to convert to a marine set up, but have now changed my mind and I am going to re stock with tropical. I have kept Malawi's before but now I would like something less aggresive (a nice little happy tank). As i mentioned above the tank is 200 litres, with a sand base, a large rock pile and i have 2 Tetra Tec EX600 filters with in line heaters. I was hoping for some ideas of what to put in there as I am head to Swallow aquatics at the weekend. The tank is fully cycled and has had/ still got fish in which i am moving to my larger tank.

Ideas Please

How about a mix of colourful fish like:-

  • Hengels Rasbora
  • Neon Dwarf Rainbows
  • Forktail Blue-Eye Rainbows
  • Celebes Rainbows
  • Glowlight Danios
  • Sawbwa Barb
  • Celestial Pearl Danios
  • Celebes Rainbows
  • Clown Killis
  • Pencilfish
  • Halfbeaks?

Why don't you get a mix of corys, it's big enough.
Black skirt
bloodfin tetra
German blue ram
denison bard
Harlequin Rasbora
Flying Fox Fish.

Flying Foxes and Denisons Barb can reach 15cm, might be too big for a 200l, depending on dimensions

Rams a pair, others would need 6+, although Harlequins would be better in a 10+

I find the best way to do it is to visit your local fish shops with a pad and pen. Write down all the names of the fish you like the look of then go home and do your research on them to see if they are suitable. This solves 2 problems - getting crappy advise form the fish shop as to whats suitable and it also avoids disappointment when you set your heart on a cetain fish from the web and no one stocks it!
