I've had my first editions, 2 clowns, in my tank for about a week now. They're feeding well and seem happy, water stats are all happy.. how long should I wait before adding the next? And any suggestions for next fish? I'm open to any ideas to look at as long as they're compatible with the few I know that I definately want to add, which are a yellow tang, and a few various flasher/fairy wrasse. I also have a white spotted/rock boring urchin in there.

Throw me your ideas!

How about a nice pair of firefish? Or a Royal Gramma?

That would bring some more colour to the tank.

my tank is crying out for fish....... still not long now until i go on holiday then i'll be considering my next move :D

I really dislike gramma's - they just float about!! How about a yellow wrasse? - I love this fish ATM, pushing it to everyone!!

My LFS dont have any wrasse atm, and ive never seen them have a yellow one!

Could I add a firefish AND a gramma at the same time?

Be careful with wrasse there are often compatibility issues, but yellow wrasses are lovely bright fish, although with your yellow tang I would be inclined to look for something else. Firefish pairs need to be bought as a pair from the LFS, i.e 2 that are alone away from other Firefish and are sticking close together, not ones that the LFS claim are a pair, they aren't like clowns and will be be less inclined to pair up, and more likely to fight to the death.

Well I ended up with a firefish! He was with another firefish in the tank, and they were sticking together, but.. they WERE in a large group, until the rest sold leaving these 2, I didn't want to risk them tearing each other apart once I got home!

They're both really pretty! Can you keep firefish in pairs?

I think you can but the person to ask on that score is HG as he has a pair but I think he brought them as a pair.

If you decide to go for a gramma then make sure it's a royal gramma and not a dottyback as they can be aggressive. They're both half yellow half purple but on the royal the colours blend together where as the dottyback the colours come to an abrupt end in the middle.

Chromis are nice nice but can be aggressive. Best to keep them in a shoal of 5.

How about a flame angel?

I didn't really have much choice in wht I got.. I went to my usual LFS and was about to ask for a firefish.. when I suddenly noticed dead and/or pretty half dead fish in 4 of the tanks, so didn't want to risk buying from there! So I popped along to the local garden centre who have a fish shop out the back, dont usually go there coz his marine stock consits of 2, 2ft tanks, 1 for coral and one for LR and fish. He only had 2 firefish and a yellow tang!
