3ft Juwel Vision 180L bow front tank, with 2 external Eheim cannister filters, crushed coral gravel and approx 50kg ocean rock

Current stock (added a couple of days ago): (all 1/2" - 3/4" in length)

4 yellow labs (1 male, 3 female ... hopefully)
4 saulosi (1 male, 3 females)
4 lombardi (1 male, 3 females)

What should I add next? More of the same species, or a different species? And how many?

I plan on adding new ones about 2 weeks after the first group.

Thanks in advance :good:

your fish are REALLY small - make sure they do not get sucked up the filter inlets.....

as for extra fish, i would wait until these have grown abit before adding additional 'larger fish' as it could throw the balance out slightly, whatever you get..

Justins got a good point there, when my tank cycled I had a rogue fry that survived for nearly a week then one day just swam into the filter intake and was squashed.

This was actually my First Tropical fish :rip:

I was gutted.

Hmmm - i will keep an eye on them. Maybe they are a bit bigger than that - maybe about an inch long. The LFS reckoned they were about 6-8 months old, and the male saulosi is alreday blue. The male lombardi is currently changing from blue to yellow.

i have been reading that that lombardi may not be the best tankmates for the labs and the saulosi - what do you guys think?

What other / how many other fish should I be thinking of adding over the next week or so? I will make sure I get the same size, so hopefully they will all get along ....

I will try and post some photos soon ...

lol - there ARE ALOT bigger than 0.5-0.75"

personally i would not have the kenyi (lombardoi) cuase of reputation alone and yours is only a 3 foot tank, but thats not a hard and fast rule is it now..... if you like them keep them and just be prepared in hte back of your mind that if or when something kicks off - then have a plan b...

i would find a nice blue afra species to go in there, yes you have the saulosi, but when they get older only one male will show FULL colours any sub dom's will be pale in comparision.. have a look around and see what afras are available to you and you like, that or maybe some cobalts (yes they get gig like lombardoi's, but they are a more gentler fish in comparision..

in a graham with a quick reminder off of Cilla Black's Blind Date............ the decision is yours :hey:

Thanks for the feedback Druchii :good: You are right, if I just keep to the labs and the saulosi, I will only have a yellow tank (apart from 1 bluey), which would be a shame. I guess that's why I liked the lombardi ... Do you have any experience of the ice blue socoloffi? I don't know much about the afras or the cobalts, but will find out :)

Right I see now !
You meant either 1 or 2 inches in length or 3 or 4 inches in length !

We thought you meant 0.5 or 0.75 inches !

Nice Tank BTW

Well, I took the 4 lombardi back to the LFS yesterday. The 3 females were easily caught, but after about an hour trying to catch the male, I ended up having to remove all the ocean rock - gutted Took me several days playing around with the stuff to get it right in the first place, and now it's all (bar 6/7 pieces which i replaced last night) sitting on the floor in the lounge.

Not happy ....

On the plus side, I have decided to get some melanochromis cyaneorhabdos in the next couple of weeks, so will still have 'blueys' in the tank. Also thinking about red zebra, hongi and pseudo acei ...

Ha Ha welcome to the wet elbow club

After a couple of months you will just chuck the rock back in.
