I got this cichlid last week but not sure what kind it is. I'm thinking Kenyi but not sure...anyone know?

or maybe a Pseudotropheus lombardi, but whatever it is, it's a mbuna cichlid and they are generally pretty nasty :)

I have him/her not sure the sex with 4 other cichlids: auratus (same size), bumblebee (little smaller), red zebra (smaller) and Jewel (smallest of all). So far he seems to be ruling the tanks but not too agressive. Once in a while he/she will go after couple fish.

It would be a male Metriaclima lombardoi, females and juveniles retain the light blue with dark vertical bars coloration.

are lombardis in the Metriclima genus now, I thought they were Pseudotropheus?

Lombardoi has always been Metriaclima (formerly Maylandia) as far as I know, however, I have see them commonly mis-labeled as Pseudotropheus Kennyi or Pseudotropheus Lombardoi in several LFS and websites.

He seems to be more aggressive than any other fish i have now. I dont see him biting anyone but he does chance other fish all the time. Should i take him out?

That or add some girlies for him to bug. :hey: Lombardoi are pretty aggressive regardless, so unless you are going for an aggressive set up you'll want to remove him and the auratus. :good:
