What Fish For Ph 8.5?

The only ones I would avoid would be the rams, and some of the more sensitive tetras (neons, rummy noses).

Livebearers will like your ph. My corys have also been very happy in it for 1 1/2 years and have spawned repeatedly.

I'm keeping neon tetras in my pH of 8.5 and they have been doing well, so i dont know what your on about.
Although my lfs sells very healthy stocks, most shops tend to sell weak neons, so beware of that if you go for them.

I think you will be ok with that pH with acidic preferring fish (like neons). Most of the UK has very hard water, so your not alone.
