What Fish For My New Tank?

I've been doing lots of research and tomorrow should be getting this tank. I know I have to let it cycle before I put any fish in it or use a few hardy ones for a cycle (I still don't know which yet any suggestions?) But I am trying to decide what to put in it. Here's a list of what I've been looking at. I would apreciate suggestions on these and other fish and how many to put in, thank you

Cory Catfish (Albino, regular, or panda I like them all)
Swordtails (looking for pretty ones idk what kind though)
Zebra Danios (Normal or long finned)
Tetras (Suggestions?)
Platys (Suggestions?)
Guppies (I don't want breeding so is it okay to keep just males?)
Glofish
Black Kuhli Loach (Or anything similar I like the look of this guy)
and SAEs? (any algae eaters that don't grow to big and arn't aggressive)

Fishless cycle is more fish friendly I would suggest a longer, wider, lower tank tho for the same water volume especially if you want to get swordtails, their active and fast fish. I have 3 in a 4ft tank and 2 in my 3ft tank. 1 to 2 male to female ratio is suggested.
Of all my swordtails I like the look most of the RedEye Koi "Kohaku" swordtail and sailfin lyretail swordtail

I have julli cories and peppered cories, since u like them all maybe get pygmy cories, you can have a bigger school.

maybe you can try oto cats too for algae eaters, but they need a mature tank.

Thanks for the reply, I'll definatly go look at those other types of cories. And I would get a longer one but since this ones base is the same size as a 29 gallon tank I'm sticking with it so I can use my dad's old stand, so maybe the swordtail's arn't for me.

I just think they'll be more comfortable in a longer tank, its pretty fun to watch them chase the females to get their attention, they can move really fast. You can get a strong stand or dresser from like a goodwill store or salvation army, I got mine there for 10 dollars just make sure its sturdy. Good luck!

Im not sure if the SAE will be ok in your tank, as they like to dart around the tank and they may want a longer tank, but 37 gallon is a reasonable size so you might be alright. Someone who has more experience may be able to help.

I strongly agree with Hunterprey. 22" is just a really high tank, quite uncomfortable to work inside on your weekly maintenance and the extra water doesn't gain you anything for more fish since its not more surface area and its harder to decorate either with plants or anything else. Not only that but you have such a great opportunity, having found this great forum and having a full month or two to work hard on your stocking plan while you grow the two slow growing bacterial species that you need in that filter prior to fish! I hate to say it but I would just settle back, relax (which is what this hobby is all about!) and re-think the whole stand/tank size/shape and really make some sort of change and "get it right!" The whole thing of "stocking plan," which you're pushing on, is really not appropriate until your tank, equipment (filter and media) and fishless cycle are settled and running properly. There's nothing wrong with working hard on the stocking plan (and its important for setting goals) but don't let it distract you from getting those first basics as "right" as they can be!

Im not much help as a bit of a newbie but i do know the answer to your guppy question - yes the males will be fine. I kept 3 males and they were fine together, then added a male lyretail guppy and that was fine too. They love swimming around together.

Yeah I just kinda wanted to get a better idea of what I want in it now so I can get adequate decorationd with hiding spaces etc. And thanks Ben And my tank isn't set yet i really like that one but my dad is coming to the store with me later and he used to breed fish so has much more insight then me, I'll see what he says.

5 tetras (still don't know what kind)
4 Corys (still don't know what kind)
3 Kuhli loaches
and an otto
What do you think is this a good mix and amount?

I have 2 albano cat fish and one little year old red sword fish. What kind of non aggressive fish can I put in with my albano cat fish and my 1 year old red tail? I put guppies in and the pick on the l year old and have damaged his tail.
