Hi,

I've got an 180l Malawi tank. The fish are starting to grow and thus out-poo my current filtration set-up. At the moment I have the internal Juwel filter that came with the tank and an external Tetratec EX700 running.

My long term plan is to replace the Juwel filter with another TEX700 or even the TEX1200 (if it fits in the cabinet).

However, PFK are doing an offer right now for a free TEX600 with a 12 month subscription to their mag. Now I've been thinking about subscribing for a while anyway, but I don't want to get the TEX600 if it won't be any better than my Juwel internal.

So my question is, will the TEX600 be worth getting or should I stick to my original plan of getting the TEX700?

Cheers,

Paul.

I'd like to know that as well, I had my eye on the 700 and then just got that email. Interesting if you click through the subcription site doesn't mention the filter. It's certainly not worth the 70 quid they reckon as it's on the web around 45quid. I figured some extra filtration on my rio180 wouldn't hurt but if I'm going exernal doing it properly with a larger filter is probably better otherwise it's just 2 filters to clean.

I would just buy it from zooplus.co.uk and then change the plug to a UK one. £3 discount off first order so EX700 is £46.99 and arrives in days.

As to the initial question about the filter. How full is your tank decoration wise. Is it planted.

Both the 700 and 1200 will easily cover the fishes needs.

If you are thinking of going larger in the future or if you are wanting to go planted at some point then for a 180 I would get the 1200.

Even if you dont then you can always use the taps to reduce the flow a little.

I have the EX700 and is a great filter.
