I currently have a 33 gallon freshwater community tank, with an Aquaclear 150. I am thinking of installing an Aquaclear quick filter to increase the current in the tank.
What I want to know is what you think the ideal filtration system would be for a 33 gallon tank. Hypothetically, let's say that price isn't a problem.

Once I see some suggestions, then price will factor in.

Thanks.

I would use a Eheim 2213. that would be lots, But you could also use the AC 150 w/ the eheim.
That is my"dream" system, if I could somehow justify this need/necessity to my wife then I would be all set.
Suggestions welcome :sly:

I currently use an UGF and Fluval 104 combo, but have been running an Eheim Ecco 2231 for the past 2 weeks prior to me removing the UGF tommorrow...

THe Eheim is no quieter than the Fluval ( :/ ) but it appears that the internal compartments do not let as much muck past. The Fluval isn't all that well engineered inside and the corregated tubing gets gunked up really quickly.

I would also use a 2213, Eheim are the best canisters in my opinion.

Have you got some bubbles trapped in the impellor chamber? My Eheims are almost silent.

Is it an Ecco or one of their classic/professional filters?

I've tried most things to get rid of any air... :/

Hey Lateral Line. njparton has one of those ECCO series filters it is not a classic.
I have never had one of the ECCO's, But i do have many Classic's and LL is right they are dead silent.

EHEIM 8)

The Eheim 2213 is a dream, silent, powerful and effective and I can find lots on ebay for quite agood price. This is probably common to all canisters but I use the Pipe that sucks in water to do what changes by draining from it

The Ecco is just a Fluval competitor, and not as good as the rest of the Eheim line. Although it's easier to maintain then the Classic, the Classic is a superior filter, bot higher quality and quieter.

If you are on a budget then I'd just add an AC 200 to what you already have.

I agree with adding another 200, OR you could get a new tank, put the 150 on it and get a 300!!! Ope sorry, I always think of new tanks when I need ANYTHING!!!
