my ehiem 2073 is a right let down first it leaked now it wont shut off the water.
Therefore i will need a new filter to replace it for my 4ft 230 litre tank.
the 2073 is for 350L and i like a lot of flow so new filter needs to be for 350-400L
with at least 1100 Lph.
i have only used eheim in the past but this one is not upto there normal standard.
It must be 10" wide max and no more than 20" high.
any idea's

Suitable for tanks up to 500 litres, theoretical LPH of 1200. Mine tested at 864 LPH full of media. £100 ish off ebay.

Just read the measurements, i think the TT will be too big.

Fluval 405?

Sorry to hear about your Eheim problems Clive. It surprises me. I guess you're referring to the hose cut-off valves that you shut off when removing the box for cleaning? If they don't work I'd get them replaced under warrantee or just order replacements if the unit were old.

For the box leaking I'd ask similar questions (sorry if you other threads on this, I just happened on this one.) Perhaps the unit sat in inventory too long at the shop and the main seal has dried out? You could replace the seal and rub it down with the stuff that Eheim likes to use on seals.

It just doesn't seem like Eheim that you'd be having these problems.

Fluval 405?

The tetratec is £85 in p&p from online petshops i got 2 of them from there on google. One of the reasons ill never promote the APS now at that price :good:

Fluval 405 would be ideal for a tank that size, I had a 305 in my bow fronted 4ft tank and it kept the water clear :)

I'm the opposite, I've always had fluvals, tried tetratec, i got 2 ex1200s with a tank I bought, not for me, now got an FX5 and G6. Everyone has different experiences and preferences I guess.

For what it is £85 seems like a good price for the Tetratec 1200 though

I have 3 1200's now. Excellent filters. The list price is about 170quid!

But the limiting factor here is the cabinet opening size.

thanks for your ideas etc i will have a good read and check sizes etc , hadnt considered tetratec either.
my ehiem is only 14 months old infact ive got through of them in that time so given up on it.
iam having to manually open the sides and get water everywhere everytime i clean it out as the valve closes but the red release button wont release the unit.
keep the suggestions coming, i cant decide. money is important but a good filter is more important and size matters.

whats a g6

whats a g6

Its a song by the Far East Movement! huzzaaaaaaaaaa!

Its one of Fluvals "new" external filters, which is supposed to be super amazing with its LCD display which monitors flow rate/temp and various other things.

You could buy 3 Tetratecs for the price of one of these. I know where my cash would go :D

They do a job but you're paying for the visual aspect rather than it being that much better than the rest. The FX5 provides the guts for my set up, the G6 is nice to have unhidden, I couldn't hide both so wanted something visually impressive. They do a G3, which is a smaller version.

hmm just re measured cabinet and its 23 inches max height, do you think the fluval 405 will fit and be useable with so little space at the top.
also the details of the height of fluval 405 varies wherever you look.

anyone got or heard about the JBL CristalProfi e1500 filter ????
