What else to add to sump

Converted my marine tank to tropical so made a filter out of the first chamber currently have a course sponge medium/fine on the bottom got alfagrog rock. Its 250 ish litres planted. This enough? Or what else to put in?

Some Dacron (white filter matt) on top to trap the gunk and stop it going through to the sponge. Then take the matt off each week and hose it off before putting it back on.

So other than that nothing more needed? Obviously normally you buy a filter rated to the tank so wondered if it was enough

It's a freshwater tank. You only need sponges to trap gunk and hold filter bacteria.
