What else should i add?

I have a pair of apisto nijsseni in a 125 US gallon, but want to add more (there is plenty of bogwood/plant/cave cover), should i add another pair of nijsseni, more females (do they form harems), or should i add another apitso type, i have access to;

Aggassizi
Cacatoudies
Macmasteri?

125 gals is alot for those guys , get another male and 4 more females [ 2 -3 females per male] , I wouldn't mix them with different apisto species [ they might x-breed], that's just me .

I would try and get some rainbow gudgeons and some badis badis , again that's just me .


You could get some other type of dwarf cichlid for your tank as well . [ rams , curiceps , nanacara for example .


Maybe some otos , a few species of [ small ] schooling fish . And lots of plants .

Try getting 2 more female nijssent since they spawn in harems. Other than that a schooling fish, like rummy nose teras, would look great in that tanks along with some plecs maybe?

yeh i agree with doggfather, plecs and tetras like sepreas or bleeding hearts
