i just divided one of my betta tanks and i'm using a glass divider. i don't mind the boys flaring at each other some, but to give them a break i need to find something to make it so they can't see each other. what do you use or recommend?

Maybe place some plants and/or lay a peice of plastic canvas agaisn't it?

I tried to put really tall plants in front of the divider on either side. I found that it didn't make much difference. I ended up cutting some holes in a tank background and siliconing it on to the divider.

well, i want to be able to put it in/out whenever, so maybe that plastic canvas would work...where do you find that? actually, i've got some of my old divider that i had for a 10g that's plastic (is that plastic canvas?) maybe i can find some background and silicone it on that so i can add/remove when needed. thanks guys!

Is the divider glass or plexiglass? I used plexiglass to make the one for my 2.5 minibow, but before I put it in I took some fine grit sandpaper to it to make it more opaque. The could still tell there was someone else on the other side, but after about 2 weeks they settled down.

I just set up my 2.5 minibow and it came with a divider.
It's completely see thru with huge holes, so I had to improvise.

I had to pick up some of those horrid little betta keeper thingys to transport the wedding boys home in, so I took the 2 little dividers they have in there (one's transparent, one is opaque) and pressed them both up against the see-thru divider that came w/the tank. The one that's opaque they obviously can't see each other thru - but that only covers probably 1/3 of the divider. I put the transparent one across the rest of the bottom part of the big divider. That way they can see each other, but nobody can get at fins.

Then, across the top, I wove java moss in and out of the divider slots.
They can still see each other here and there, but Petey's so interested in looking around his tank that he doesn't really care about Gabriel. Gabriel is completely freaking out when he sees him. I hope it calms down a bit. If not, I'll just have to rip the divider out and put one of them into one of the extra 2.5G tanks I have here.

Wouldn't it be smart of some company to specifically build and sell tanks, like ones up to 20 gallon, which were sold with perfect-fitting betta dividers, divided into as many compartments as you wanted? Hmm....

the divider for the tank is glass, so i used the old plastic divider from my 10g and cut it to the right size and siliconed some background to it. when i slide it next to the glass they can't see through at all. works like a champ thanks for all your help!
