Hi guys, after a bit of research and mainly your help i have come up with a suggested stocking scheme for my community tank...

8*Cardinal Tera
2*Red tail banded Rainbowfish
2*Bosemani Rainbowfish
10*Galaxy Rasbora
2*Clown loaches
2-4*Panda Cory
4*Gourami ( have not made my mind up on which ones but they be darwf..)
Maybe some sunset platys
and hopefully one time in the future when i am a bit more experienced i will get an elephant nose fish.

I have a rio 180 litre tank and would really appreciate any help or suggestions. I think i could be overstocking with this amount of fish???? Thank you in advance

Ollie

p.s. if i am not overstocking how many more fish can i add??

sounds quite good to me, and i would go with 4 panda corys, 2 is to little for them to feel safe

Thanks for the quick replies... Do you think i have room for 4 panda corys. How many more fish can i put into the tank??

I'd pick one or the other rainbowfish species and get a group of those, rather than just two of each. You could even go for a larger group of the smaller melanotaenia praecox. I'd also ditch the clown loaches, maybe go for some of the smaller types instead - as all loaches need to be in groups of 5 or more preferably and a group of 5 clowns will be too much for your tank. Dwarf gouramis are incredibly unhardy and commonly diseased - every one we've ever had has died within weeks of getting it, PFK mention that there's a virus going round them too. Panda cories are also not very hardy, so best left a few months til your tank is mature - I can suggest metaes though if you dont want to wait for the pandas - similar size, hardier, and just as striking :)

An elephant nose fish wont go in your tank I'm afraid as they can get to 13" and need to be kept in groups, apparently.

Lisa, thanks very much for your advice... I was always counting on not being able to have the elephant nose but i thought it was woth an ask... When you say similar, smaller loaches, what would you suggest??? What is a 'metaes', can't find any information on them...

Ollie

Also would someone suggest whether i should be keeping the gouramis or if they are to delicate???

Dwarf Loaches Botia Sidthimunki only grow to 5.5cm... There are other smaller species... ( but none as small as the Dwarf Loach )...

Botia Striata is also a small ( ish ), but highly colourful loach... This website has a Loach Index... very informitive...

Thanks so much for that info. Really really really usefull. If i go for a smaller loach what do you guys think about the stocking scheme then. How many more fish could i put in with smaller loaches. Any more ideas for my stocking scheme would be very appreciated...
