I'm thinking of removing all of my rasboras from my 29 and just keeping my Badis badis in it. Then I'll remove the power filter and stick in two or three sponge filters, but hey what do you guys think??

Of course, everything is personal preferance and if that's what you want then I wouldn't think it a problem. I am just curious as to why you are itchin' to do this and add 3 sponge filters? :)

I really like the idea of a group of fish repopulating themselves without much intervention from the fishkeeper. The sponge filters are there so that they won't suck up the fry and to provide lots of microrganisms to the growing fry.

From what I've read, Badis badis breeders have had the best results with keeping two seperate tanks, one for females, one for males, and then a third smaller one for breeding. Also, there seems to be a huge problem with the males and sometimes the females dieing off after a breed, I think that's why they sepperate them. But, I'm sure there are some with tons of sucess with them kept togather.

BTW, I love Badis bengalensis. You may check out

It's a pretty good explination of what I said above.

I have seen that site before and I really liked it. However the Badis in that is a different species from the Badis I now have. Those I can't breed because they don't import females into the states  . Oh well I have the larger and very stunning Badis badis. You really need to keep this fish for yourself. Picture just cannot do this fish any justice. All the pictures I've seen of this fish are just so pathetic.
