Hi,

My marigold swordtail is pregnant and I put her in a breeders net so she can have the fry in there. I wanted to know what you're supposed to feed the fry? Are regular flakes ok or are the too big? Would brine shrimp or bloodworms be better?

I'm really stumpted on this so if anyone could enlighten me on this I would really appreciate it! :)

Thanks,

Aaron

Regular flakes are fine, however you must crush them up as small as you can. Usually just rubbing them between your fingers will do this. Baby brine shrimp will help them develop quickly. I think adult brine shrine and bloodworms would be too big for them :/

HTH!

 Fish flakes are great fry food, but they have to be crushed up because the fry's mouth is tiny! I usually pour some flakes into a small bag and grind them with my fingers until it turns into a powder. You can also buy special fry food called First Bites that are made just for newborn baby fry and it contains a lot on nutrition. I feed my older fry freeze dried bloodworms that I grind up like the flakes so it's a powder. Good luck with the fry! :D

i alternate between bbs and a crushed up flake mixture (tropical flakes, veggie flakes, freeze dried blood worms, and freeze dried daphnia). they're almost 3 weeks old and i don't think i've lose a single one yet! :D

I just put regular size flakes in and they just nibble on them and they get plenty of food i also crush up my blood worms or cut them into small peices to feed  hope your fry grow good an strong good luck1

:D A method i use for my fry is i buy baby brine shrimp that helps then grow faster or u can get someone the adults flake food and put it in a ziploc bag and pulverize it till its a fien powder , well good luck :kana: :)
