Any that I can save get sold to four of my LFS. I get from 10-15 Swedish Crowns ($1.35-$2.00 US) per fish after they have been raised to 3-4cm in length. The bigger the juvies the higher the price.

I mostly give them away to friends, however you didnt give the option of raising them yourself, as I always have room in my tanks for livebearers. However, I currently have over 150 guppy/platy fry ranging from 1 week - 2 months old in my raising tank - and will probably sell most of them to my LFS, or trade them for other fish - or things like food, medicines, etc.

Ive still got a fair few that im raising myself- have had no deaths so far :D But obviously i started to get a bit overcrowded so i gave a load of them to a friend's sister for her to keep as pets. Most are still alive and doing well apparently :D Hoping to go visit them soon lol!

however you didnt give the option of raising them yourself
Nope, and that was intentional...as you can't keep every single fry, and their fry, and *their* fry, and so on... eventually, you're going to run out of room for more tanks!

It is not realistic to have all those options in your poll, and not have the option that many people mentioned which is keeping them yourself. Whether its survival of the fittest or not, many people DO keep or HAVE kept their fry.

BTW I started keeping livebearers this year, adn have ONLY been able to SAVE the four I have from my community tank. I am sure that that story is common amng communtiy-keepers.

Well, I suppose without that inclusion or option in your poll, that my demographic of livebearer owners just 'doesn't exist', lol

I sell my male Endler fry to my lfs @ 50p each where they offer them (after quarantine) @ £2.25. Female Endler fry make me 30p each
I sell my Endler/Guppy hybrids to same lfs @ 75p for the males and they are sold @ £3. These are sold with the understanding that they are sterile hybrids and cannot be bred from. The hybrid females go for same as Endler females.
I have had an ongoing 'savings' account with them for the last 2 years and have just walked away with a brand new Rio 180 from the proceeds of nature B)

I have stated to them that if the demand for the hybrids diminishes, i will no longer breed them.
I have been instore many a time when a customer has asked where these stuning fish come from (the hybrids) and they always reply with 'specialist breeder' and inform them that they are sterile.

mouse (specialist breeder :D )

-_- ummmm... i'm pretty sure that guppy x endler hybrids aren't actually sterile... that's one reason endlers are often considered a subspecies or even just a regional variant.... it's not really terrible if the endler genes get mixed into the guppy pool, but you definitely don't want them getting back in with the other endlers.

I used to do 2 options on the list when I kept gups which were the rpedetor option and LFS option. They produce so many I didn't want to over feed my little froggys on purely gups so I had tonnes left over.

I sold the left overs to my LFS for a third of the retail price. Not a lot but it's better than nothing :)

Most will. I don't know of a shop around here that doesn't if they have the space for them. Just make sure you call up in advance just incase they don't. >.<

I've had my first bunch of guppy and molly fry about a year ago. I kept them all and raised them. After that bunch, whenever I find fry (usually within a week after they're born) I feed them to my bettas. I know its cruel but I dont have room to raise them, besides, I'm trying to get rid of my livebearers.
