i herd they like this i put a slice of it in the tank and am waiting to see if they go for it i was looking throo other net sites and one had this wrote on it  .......,,,,,,,,,,,.cut cucumber in half (I only use about 30% of its length), spoon out the seeds ..........is there a reason for spooning out the insides of a cucumber i thort thats what they eat????or do they only eat skin ?

There is more to the insides of a cucumber than the seeds. Still, I've never bothered scooping them out. the skins seems to be the bit they leave if they leave anything. My bristlies took a few weeks to learn to eat courgette and similar, but now they love it.

soooooooooo u dont take the seeds out ?they wont harm the fish?

no, they dont, from my experience

I give mine a thick slice of cucumber and he loves it. Always eats the middle about a 10p size. But then the other day all that was left was a tiny 1cm piece of the skin. So I think he must have eaten the skin.

It is very good for them and I feed him with it 3 times a week.

My common plecs mostly concentrate on the soft flesh and seeds in the centre of the cucumber, while my clown plec pretty much devours the whole thing, cucumber skin included.

Our commons and sails will suck down a whole cucumber in a few hours, we cut it into thirds, then half the thirds lengthways and impale them on each end of three solid metal dinner knives to keep them sunk.

Whatever is left and floats to the top is finished off by everyone else, and the snails take care of the rest. Magic.

My royal likes cucumber but he won't touch courgette. :p I tried feeding him courgette for two weeks. He left it alone. Plunked in a slice of cucumber the entire thing was gone. Since I only have a tiny 3" pleco, I cut round slices of cucumber for him. He eats all the skin and soft innards. Then he starts on the ring of hard cucumber flesh.

Mine are completely addicted to sweet potatoe. And it's very good for them.

cool hmm sweet potatoe cucumbers and fish sounds like a meal

My bristlenose loves slices of cucumber and zucchini. My previous pleco loved peas; I'd just drop a whole one and he would rasp at it and just leave the shell behind.

My royal likes peas and cucumber but mainly wood judging by what comes out the other end  Do you need to boil the sweet potato first or is it ok raw?

Try zucchini and tofu..tofu yes..they like it. Only feed once a week though, too much and they'll get bloated, etc. Thought I would share this, I heard it on some forum or another...
