Well, my 2 bettas, wont eat the Aquarian Tropical Flake Food, which i was instructed to feed them by my LFS.

I feed them bloodworm pellets. A quarter every 2 days.
I want to start feeding them flakes because surely all that bloodworm can't be good for them.

So what brand of fish flakes to people use here?

:)

Atisons betta pellets - they are on ebay too.

Mine are fed on Atisons betta pellets too but will eat virtually anything! they also have bloodworm pellets and frozen brine shrimp as a treat.

5 days of Hikari Betta Gold pellets, 1 day of Bloodworm, 1 pea day & 1 starve day then start again.

Flakes are OK and most betta will accept them if they get hungry enough. However, a better option is to feed a specialised betta food. I used Hikari Betta Bio Gold - it's about £1.25 for a sachet that lasts ages. You'll only need 2-3 pellets, twice a day.

You are right, bloodworms are not good for them to have all the time. They don't need much at all overfeed them and they don't have the right balance of nutrients for everyday food. However, they are great as a treat or a couple of times a week. You'll only need a few worms each time - maybe 5 or 6.

Other good foods are Atison's Betta Pro and live foods.

-Hikari Betta Pellets
-Generic Betta Pellets from a Canadian big box pet store
-Sinking Granules that I feed my tropical fish
-Frozen Bloodworms
-Frozen brine shrimp
-Frozen pea (his favorite :) but only as a treat.)
-A few baby pond snails
-The aphids that live on top of his floating plants.

I'll probably give him the occasional newborn endler when they overrun my 10g.

I find that once you have a couple of tanks with different species of fish you can just start mixing and matching their food for variety.

Hikari Betta bio Gold Pellets
Hikari Micro Wafers
Topical Betta (red flake with freeze dried bloodworm)
Any frozen or live foods that I feed the community tank
Deshelled peas

I don't do any specific feeding days, just give them a variety with a starve day once a week.

my 4 boys menu:

hikari betta pellet
hikari micro pellet
ocean nutrition flake
nutrafin betta flakes and worms
HBH betta bite
HBH betta treat
tetra color granuale
tetra tropical crisp
hikari freeze dried spirulina brine shrimp
hikari frozen blood worm
frozen thawed peas once in a while

I just feed them whatever I feel like twice a day. Bloodworms usually on the weekend.
