Evening all hopefully you can put my mind at rest. Our fish, well mainly the black spot barbs and the redline torpedo barbs keep flicking themselves against the gravel. No fish in the tank are sshowing any white spots or signs of ill health. Ammo and nitrIte are 0 and nitrate is around 40 ppm as that's what it leaves the tap at. I use prime when doing water change which is at least weekly sometimes twice a weekm any ideas on why they do this? Should I be looking for anything in particular? Thanks in advance

I have a horrible feeling it may be whitespot/ich.

Just done a water change and noticed a couple of tiny pots on a few fish. Going to have another look in a couple of hours when tank calms down after change just in case it is tiny bubbles but I think I'm being really hopeful there.

Tiny bubbles on fish can mean sometimes the fish is about to break out in whitespot.
If the spots are a size of a grain of salt it whitespot.
What do the fish gills look like.

Hi

Gills look ok, but on closer inspection a few neons have quite a few white spots on them, more so than any of the other fish. My pride and joy (6 torpedo barbs) only one has a spot on it but a couple have what looks like a spot on their fins.

I decided to play it safe and went to the lfs and picked up some interpet no.6.

Any more advice? the booklet did not go into to much detail other than dose 30ml day one and again on day 4. The solution made the water go a sort of green for about an hour and now thats cleared. I have the temp turned up to 27 degrees as well and have removed the carnon and nitrazorb from the filters.

Does this sound about right?

You need to raise temp to 30.
Also increase aeration as the high temp and med reduce 02 in the water.

cheers for that. Day one was sat so day four would be tuesday, should i water change just before? Thought thats what I read on here but it dont say so in the instructions. Also the fish are starting to behave poorlynow, swimming at funny angles, a few are gasping and more spots have appeared.

Anything else I can do other than wait until tuesday?

Have you used the full dose of med.
It should say in the instructions if you have to preform a water change.

The instruction booklet is next to useless. No mention of water change, may be missing booklet I think as it is more of a description of all their products as opposed to instructions.

Its a 300l tanl to required 30ml which I put in, the tank went greeny/blue for about 2 hours at most then cleared. Reading other posts on here people are saying to do water changes before next dose which is due tomorrow.

Anyone had any experience using interpet no.6?

I would start a thread in tropical discussion about the interpet med and water changes.
Good Luck.
