What do moss balls do ?

i brought one cos it was a quid, how do they grow ? Do they really float to top of water in day time ?

As for growing, it just grows in size. Mine's growing really slowly. And i haven't seen mine go to the surface before, maybe the light isn't strong enough

What do they do? Hehe, they sit there and look cute! Mine only floats after i have taken them for cleaning, to squeeze out the mulm they attract, eventually they sink. I think the floating thing may occur in higher light tanks.
