What Cichlids Are On Your 'to Keep' List?

Ah Jack Dempseys, beautiful fish, the black ones are stunning.

I forgot to mention Electric Blue Jack Dempsey, I will definitely give one of those a go once they drop in price a bit :)

My avatar is my juvi EBJD 2 years ago. He's a whopping big 7" brute now :p Stunning fish, i love them.

My list of things in the future woulod consist of Jaguar Cichlids, Oscars, and Red/Green Terrors. Thats about it really. I'm literally a JD fanatic though :)

Just going off on a tangent and I apologise for stealing the thread, but out of curiosity do you have your Chocolate in a planted tank?

I do my best to keep the surface covered with floating plants, even though my Severum does his best to eat his way through it,
I also add the occasional vallis or elodea plants and my Chocolate cichlid doesn't seem to bother with any of them.

Ah cool, It's just that I have read that they like a heavily planted tank to make them feel safe and I have just finished changing over my substrate and plating my tank, just need to add some floating plants now and hopefully will make him less skittish! For such a big guy he really is a pansy!! My Blue Acara (half his size) chases him all the time (no damage just chases him out of his territory).

Any recommendation on Floating plants?

Also to go back to the original post I really like the look of True Parrot would love to keep one one day but have only seen in shop once!

Amazonian Frogbit is by far the best IMO and grows quite comfortably under any conditions,
Duckweed is another favourite of mine but as it is small, does seem to disappear rather quickly
I also have some Salvia natans atm but this isn't as easy to keep as the others IMO

Quite possibly,

really the only cichlid left on my list to keep is Parachromis Dovii. I have pretty much kept everything else at one time or another that I wanted, and have actually trimmed down to just two 75 USG tanks one with a Festae and the other with a F0 A. Labiatus
