Well there are quite a few options, Angels obviously being the most common

there are many smaller cichlids such as Bolivian Rams, German Rams, Kribensis, Keyhole cichlids, Cockatoo Dwarfs, etc

as well as larger cichlids like Festivums, Severum, firemouths, convicts and blue acaras

IMO you would be fine with a pair of maybe two or three species of the smaller cichlids or a small group of the a single species
and for the larger types you could go with a single pair of one species, or two or three fish from across the species

A severum would be too large for a 125l tank.

What are the dimensions of the tank?

id go for a pair of blue german rams, cause you cn add peacefull community fish with these and there usually isnt any problems, and their fairly easy to look after in a mature aquarium. alot nicier looking than bolivian rams, but its up to you out of ones suggested,

if you get a pair of convicts you couldnt really put much else in as they grow big and are aggressive so should really be kept with other cichlids same as others.

but its up to you!
good luck in whatever you choose to do! :good:

The dimensions are 81 x 36 x 50 cm. I recently went to one of my lfs and they had T bar cichlids just wanted to know if this fish would be alright. Thanks for all your replies. Cheers Angus

not really as they need a minimum of 40gallon tank they can work in a species tank or community tank.

I keep a pair of Sajica (T-bars) in a 30g without any problems. They don't need a 40g, a 6" male would be a good sized fish normally.
