What Can Go With Godlfish ?

i mean
can i get some coldwater frogs , snails , another type of fish ect

thanks :)

Is it just the one fish you have and is it a common goldfish?
How many gallons is your tank?

hey,

I have four species in my 20g cold water tank.

Along with two types of goldfish (fantail and moores) I have white cloud MM's, Hill stream loaches and paradise fish. They all get on fine, but one of the black moores did have an eye pulled out of him by one of the paradise fish. But like a good plane he has been able to fly on one engine.

If you want to have a look at what these species look like check out my slide show. (check out the last photo and see how well the black moores eye has healed).

wow!
I can't do that with my 20g or my gold fish.
I did have a dojo loach for a few days, but it didn't last long. I think it was because it was summer in California, and upstairs with no air conditioner or tank refrigeration system. I do have 3 white cloud mms, but they live in the heated comunity tank because I can easily picture Cracker swallowing one in a single gulp.
I'd like to have more coldwater variety, but in my climate it's easier to mantain warm than really cold water, and I only have so much space for tanks and all. And since feeder goldfish do grow, my 3 goldfish ought to have at least 20 g each. I'm thinking it's time to either build them a pond or let someone with more space deal with them.
I might like to get American flagfish or blue shiners or rainbow fish or something some time, but I haven't finnished researching that because I don't currently have a place to put them. I would love to get more dojos too, but not now.
the idea of amphibians is appealing, but you have to watch out for size and appatites on both sides. Mine did well with apple snails, but I'm afraid to try it now because the fish might be able to eat almost a fullgrown snail now. I'm sure they'd at least try. I have seen goldfish in with turttles, but that was mostly because they wanted the turttle to eat the fish.

hi,i have 4 peppered cories (corydoros paleatus) in with my gold fish.there bottom feeders & really easy to keep.they dont like very warm temperatures and like to be with atleast 4 of there own kind.the only problem you may encounter with them is that if youv got sharp gravel it can harm there barbles & cause a bacterial infection.i use sand on the bottom (its alot easier to keep clean & vac the goldfish poop off aswell).iv had my cories 6 months now & theyv spawned twice already (they lay eggs)!!!id reccomend them to anyone with goldfish and there great fun to watch!look in the catfish (corydoros) section for more info! :) x

Some tropical fish can do quite well in a "cold water " tank, but not if the water really is very cold. The ones you mention would probably be OK until the goldfish get big enough to have them for lunch. One of my older goldfish is a commet and he is slightly smaller then the shubunkin and the common, but They're all close to 8 inches long now, if you count finnage, and it only took them a couple of years to get pretty big. I haven't had other fish species with them besides Dojo, but the way they go after snails and plants and constantly beg to be fed, I'm sure not gonna put a guppy in with mine.

Just to add I used to have my 6 diamond tetras in with my coldwater tank and they flourished!
Only moved them to give goldies more space! also got 2 dojo loaches in and they all get on very well! and a few shrimp (bought in shop labelled as freshwater prawns!!!) really just brown versions of ghost shrimp!
