hi whats the best brick to use for a small raised pond, is it best to use a liner or just brick. i guess you have to seal it
any help would be great
cheers

just the common red brick would be fine mate you can seal it all up with fibreglass resin and hardener and paint it on the bricks or line the inner wall with carpet underlay or something like it (so there is no sharp brick faces and edges) and put a liner in and secure it with another coarse or two of bricks

last year I used solid block and put the linr over it and then covered the brick with wood

ok thanks will use a a normal red brick with a liner i think cheers for the tip with the underlay

thats what im going to do when i can afford the breeze blocks that is lol breeze blocks ,lining stuff (like filter floss but a bit thicker) pond liner and i was thinking either render and piant the outside walls or decking up the walls and around the top edges i prefer this way it looks cool

hi
red bricks are not ideal for a raised pond if your planning on having the pond above 4rows even at 4 rows you would have to do a double wall and fill the cavity with concrete
it will be better to use concrete blocks (but not thermolite blocks these will soak up water and can crack in winter)

then put in your liner you can then hold liner in place with a nice patheing flag , patheing tile or wood finish

I agree wth block

I got a thicker size block I think it was 140mm wide and it was soli and bloody heavy!!! I used an underlay and at the bottom I used sand and old carpet to soak up pressure of liner

For the outsid I used wood panelling think its called tongue and groove but it looks ok
