What Background Do You Prefer?

I am trying to decide what background to put on my tank...I've seen mirrored, blue mirrored, light to dark blue gradient, black and the whole fishy scene. What do you guys and gals think? What do you have?

I would go for go for a 3d background but if you cant get one i would go for solid blue or black.

Plant scene. Was gonna pick fish scene but i have a plant scene and i add the fish to that scene because the plants look so real it's like they are really at the back of the tank.

I have one that is black on one side and blue on the other, I use the blue as it seems to bring out the colours of the fish and the plants better. The black darkened the tank down too much.

Yeah, I was thinking that the black might darken it too much for my taste. I'm just looking for some depth for my plants so it looks like it's more dense than it really is.

I have the blue gradient one and with live plants it looks immense

And you don't have to spend much money to get a decent looking effect. I just used cheap, light blue posterboard for mine - less than one dollar, I think:

I prefer the quality 3D sculptured backgrounds but I have Tanganyikans so it goes well with the rocky scape.

Really is a personal choice

3D backgrounds are the best in my opinion, some of the tanks with these look like they are a chunk out of the environment. If you're looking for a show tank then I'd definately suggest having a 3D background.

If I ever win the lottery I'm getting a 'Back to Nature' background, then I'll only have to win the lottery twice more to afford one

Of course if you have DIY skills theres always the option of making one yourself. A few articles such as THIS, THIS, or THIS would be a good start.

I voted for clear but I also favor white backgrounds. I like the open, airy look they have. I did use the mirrored blue or silver ones but whenever I tried to take a picture, the reflections they made were a problem.

IMHO, the ones with pictures of fish, plants, etc. are nice but detract from the ability to view the fish.

I bought some blue wallpaper and im styling like yours. Your tank is my idea of a perfect planted tank.
