I have 2 planted tanks. The first and my pride and joy is my bowfront which is my dream tank. I got it for my birthday 2 yrs ago and is doing really well.

I want to know what kinds of set ups you have. Everything from fish in the tank to the substrate to the lighting to the plants to the matienance of the tank along with what ferts or what not you add to it.

as in my sig :))

but the tank im enjoying the most is my planted 10 gallon , my first attempt @ a planted tank

im using gravel substrate , driftwood and slate as main bottom decorations ,lighting is 18 watt with reflector, and co2 injection, i have my own mix for the nitrate and pottasium that is needed for plants and i use kent freshwater for the micronutrients, i do weekly water changes of about 10% , not sure if i should be hoovering the gravel but its doing good atm heres a piccy

Ok here goes:

30 Gal planted, 80 Watts, regular gravel with flourish root tabs, just recovered from green water.. so I am still dosing carefully now.. I am adding 1ml ( .97ppm) of Nitrates daily.. I also added 15ml of leaf zone for the first time . As I understand one should not follow the instructions of commercial micro nutrients in heavily planted tanks, you should actually add more.. I guess now I should buy an Fe test kit.

I have not done any water changes since I setup the tank. I am planning on keeping this to a minimum

2 2L CO2 bottles connected to a Hagen reactor. CO2 level is about 15ppm

Penguin bio wheel 170gph per hour (too high) and causing too much surface movement, I am thinking about a HOT magnum

The plants are: Ludwigia, amazon sword, anubias nana, anubias barteri, water wisteria, some sort of hygro, dwarf sagitaria, java fern, java lace, corckscrew val, melon sword, long grass plant, and 2 other plants I don't know :). I plan to add Riccia later on and reaquascape my whole tank

and my 10 Gal is not planted

you can see the fish in both in my sig

Riffle tank.
Not sure how many gallons- Five maybe. "Bow" front.
Turned around backwards so front is flat.

Substrate- Sand/Peat/Garden Soil.

Plants- Hair Algae(controlled growth).
Hornwort? Some type of fan plants and some tall grassy stuff and something else with small round leaves, lol. Also some kind of vine. All gathered locally.

Lighting- dunno- it came with tank. (second hand)

Filtration- Waterfall filter without charcoal.

Bog Wood and Rocks.

Fish-
Three flagfin shiners.
Two mosquito fish.
Four baby guppies.

Getting one darter soon. :)

I just swish my hand around in the tank to dislodge any peat/dead leaves, etc.

This is not a clean plantaquarium but it has a lot of plants. i am not sure about all the plants names.
Here is what i remember (probably a bad mix as i only have bought what i think looks great):

Limnophila sessiliflora
Myriophyllum mattogrossense
Gymnocorons spilanthoides (i think)
Acorus gramineus var. pusillus
Samolus parviflorus
Enchindorus parviflorus
Bacopa monnieri
and
microsorium pteropus (added later)

i think that covers it. Sorry that i dont know the english names but i guess the latin names is better than the Norwegian names :D

Yuppers, there's a reason.
I wanted to give myself more room to make my rock formation. The bowed front "back" allows me to pile my rocks better than if it were the flat back "front". :D
It also made it easier to aim my tubing for the bottom current. " waterfall pump".

well as in the signature.

co2 is by 3x JBL BioCo2 in the Rena (ugrading to gas cylinders soon),
2-3mm gravel substrate over JBL Aquabasis

Lighting is 228 watts 4x 30w T8s and 2x 54w T5s

Many plants , need to post pics soon

Juwel 240 has 2x 1 litre DIY yeast co2 and 114W T8 lighting and Aquagrit + 2-3 mm gravel substrate.

Will be replacing 240 with Rio 400 with 288w lighting (4x T5s and 2xT8s) 2-3 mm gravel mixed with JBL florpol over JBL aquabasis will also upgrade CO2 system to cylinders.

very expensive really, but the first time ive been able to do this, been dreaming of having large(ish) aquariums since i was 10 :)

5 gallon with regular medium-sized gravel, biowheel filtration, 10 W fluorescent lighting (12 hours/day), 15% water changes every 2 weeks. I used to add Kent Freshwater plant fertilizer, but my plants kept dying so I stopped adding it and they seem to be doing better.

The plants:
1 x anubias var. nana (attached to some driftwood)
1 x wisteria
1 x bacopa (split into two bunches)
1 x cryptocoryne (I'm not sure what kind; it's pretty much dead, I think :/ )

Here it is (sorry for the bad quality):5 Gallon
