What Are Those Cute Litte Aficans That Hide In Shells?

huh? your confusing me. i meant i have done those fish (monos..and so on) in a reef long term. i wont do them in salt. i just want to know if i should just go with 6 pairs. any babies they have will become feeders or be sold off. are there any other small shell dwellers that are compatible?
They are colony breeders so don't really pair off at all. Best to have a dominant male and a few females. Also, definitely better to keep in a species tank. If you are putting them in a 5 gallon then you wouldn't have room for anything else anyway. These are the smallest shelldwellers, I would recommend only one male with 2 or 3 females in a tank that size. Give them plenty of shells to hide in, best off at 5 or more shells per fish.

in a tank that size you can't have anything else really.

These are freshwater fish which require hard water.

Are bumblebee gobies not brackish?

i honestly dont know, thats why i was asking. what if i did 3 multies and 2 pea puffers? would like a small variety as opposed to having 5 of the same thing.

Personally I would say that because of the territorial nature of this fish, it is a cichlid after all, I would say keep it as the only species in the tank in such a small setup.
